The sport
About Frame Running
A sport that makes running possible for people with mobility, balance or coordination impairments.
What is it?
Frame Running is an adaptive athletics discipline using a specially designed three-wheeled running frame. Athletes support themselves with a saddle and body plate, then propel the frame with their legs.
There are no pedals—just the athlete’s own movement, rhythm and speed.
Who is it for?
Children, teenagers and adults with a wide range of mobility and coordination difficulties can enjoy Frame Running. It can be a social, recreational activity or a route into competitive athletics.
Supportive by design
Three wheels, a saddle and upper-body support create the stability to move confidently.
Powered by you
The athlete uses their own legs to move forward and build strength, skill and endurance.
Sport for everyone
Every session is a chance to be active, make friends and celebrate progress.
Our mission
Frame Running Ireland aims to help more people experience movement, competition and belonging through inclusive athletics. We are building opportunities where every athlete can set their own goals and go after them.
